PSHE & Relationships
PSHE education helps pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage many of the critical opportunities, challenges and responsibilities they will face as they grow up and approach adulthood.
By teaching pupils to stay safe and healthy and by building self-esteem, resilience and empathy, our effective PSHE programme helps tackle barriers to learning, raise aspirations, and improve the life chances of all our pupils.
The curriculum will be delivered throughout the year, utilising some lesson time and assemblies. We use the jigsaw programme to support the delivery of PSHE at QPA. Jigsaw is a comprehensive Programme for Primary PSHE including statutory Relationships and Health Education.
Jigsaw is taught through a spiral approach. It is progressive scheme giving children relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves and others.
Jigsaw consists of six half-term units of work (Puzzles), each containing six lessons (Pieces) covering each academic year.
Term 1: Being Me in My World
Term 2: Celebrating Difference (including anti-bullying)Term 3: Dreams and Goals
Term 4: Healthy Me
Term 5: Relationships
Term 6: Changing Me
