Nursery

Welcome to The Queen’s Park Academy Nursery

We believe that every child deserves the best start in life.

At Queen’s Park Academy we provide high-quality early years education. We have a team of dedicated and caring staff that are passionate about nurturing the children so that they have the best possible start to their educational journey. We hope that your children will continue this journey in Queen’s Park Reception and beyond.

It is our aim to ensure that the children that attend our setting will achieve their potential. We look at each child individually to ensure that they are happy, healthy and confident.  Adults support and scaffold the learning in response to their individual needs and interests.

At our school all children and families are valued and treated with equal respect.  The diversity we have leads to an inclusive school culture. We embrace and celebrate many aspects of this within our school community.

We care about developing strong partnerships between home and school. As their first educators, you are an exceptionally important part of their learning journey. We endeavour to work closely with you as parents and carers to involve you with your child’s learning. There are regular opportunities for you to join in with learning experiences in the Nursery.

Our curriculum provides rich learning experiences with opportunities for children to deeply embed knowledge following themes that will be revisited later in their school life within the school. The curriculum takes children beyond the limits of their personal experiences and sparks curiosity and pleasure in learning new information. Central to the curriculum offer is our focus on developing oral language and extending vocabulary. This is carried out to enable our learners to confidently communicate their wants, their needs and their learning.

The EYFS Framework identifies the following characteristics of effective teaching learning that are embedded in our vision for our early years' curriculum:

  • playing and exploring - children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’
  • active learning - children concentrate and keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy achievements
  • creating and thinking critically - children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things

We want our children to have high levels of well-being and involvement, to enjoy their learning and play, to explore their sense of curiosity and to develop the necessary skills which will provide them with the firm foundations to continue their lifelong learning journey.

Please contact the school office if you would like to visit the setting and meet with the Headteacher or Nursery lead teacher.
