Queens Park Academy

An adventure in learning together

What we do

As a Governing Body we are expected to have a strong focus on four core responsibilities:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision
  • To be a critical friend. We offer support, constructive advice, a sounding board for ideas, a second opinion on proposals and help where needed.  But we also challenge, ask questions, seek information, improve proposals and seek to arrive at the best solution for all concerned.
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.
  • To hold the school to account for the educational standards it achieves and the quality of the education it provides.

Emma Bolton

I have worked at Queens Park Academy for a number of years and in a number of different roles. I decided to apply for the role of teacher governor to widen my understanding of school leadership and governance. I believe Queens Park is a very special place and serves a unique and diverse community. I hope that my work, both on and off the governing board, ensures that the children develop a deep rooted love of learning as well as other life long skills. I hope to ensure the children's experiences are first class and they have exciting and interesting opportunities which support their learning.

Jenny Yildiz

I have been a parent governor at Queens Park Academy for some years now.  I currently have a son in year 3 and my daughter also attended from Reception through to year 4 before moving to Westfield.  My association with Queens Park goes back a very long way in that I grew up here and attended what was then Queens Park Infants School and Queens Park Junior School.  I became a parent governor to take an interest not only in my children's education but to support the school in helping the children to achieve their potential (whatever it may be).  I still live locally and now that I have given up my daily commute to London I can pay more regular visits to the school.  If you have any questions or concerns I can often be found walking laps in the playground to help Denmark class with their weekly lap total!

Ven Bolton

I am delighted to join the Governing Body - my association with Queens Park Academy goes back to my days with Bedfordshire Education Business        Partnership. Together we developed programmes to support reading, engaged gifted and talented children through the Children's University, and made links with local business. Now that I am retired I am able to spend Friday mornings in school, getting to know the staff and children through a variety of activities, some connected with my specific role as SEND Governor.  I look forward to meeting parents and to help in any way possible.
